COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

On October 23rd 2012, BrandAlliance™ pledged its support of positive experiences through the worldwide engagement of the Pay-it-Forward philosophy and movement.   Our effort, like PIF’s, will be “to inspire and educate individuals of all ages and walks of life about the impact that Pay it Forward can have through simple acts of kindness. In 2010 Joelle Cummings, an employee at BrandAlliance BC, joined Big Sisters of BC in the Lower Mainland to become a “big” sister to Chrisandra, an 11 year old from Richmond, BC.  Big Sisters connects female adults to young females to help build self esteem and who would benefit from a long term relationship with a strong role model.  Joelle dedicates 4 hours a week to Chrisandra and participates in many activities which includes anything from ice skating and snow tubing to making sushi or even just playing around at the community park.  "This relationship is incredibly rewarding on all levels," Joelle says. "I don't know which one of us looks forward to our time together more."

October 27th, 2010: BrandAlliance™ participated in building a first-of-its kind for Habitat for Humanity in all of Canada.  Habitat for Humanity Edmonton, Good Samaritan Society and the Town of Stony Plain have partnered together to build two SIXplexes that will integrate seniors and families.  BrandAlliance™ Edmonton sponsored Habitat though its “ADOPT A DAY” program by donating money and staff time to help build this complex for families and seniors to have access to a wheelchair accessible community in their own town. 
 
 
         
November 11, 2009: There's always something magical when people come together to support a cause. During an evening benefit called “Be our Hero”, BrandAlliance™ Montreal raised over $ 8,000 for the Quebec Division of the Canadian Society of MS. Director of Accounts, Ghislaine Bousquet, inspired all staff to become improvising singers, entertainers, servers and cooks.

     
         

July 2009: BrandAlliance™ Edmonton raised over $10,000 and sponsored a build (two homes in Zambia, Africa) with Habitat for Humanity.

 
In 2008/09, BrandAlliance™ Calgary organized a fundraising campaign to build a school in Kenya through Free The Children (www.freethechildren.com). The collective efforts of all involved, especially BrandAlliance™ Calgary staff who put endless volunteer hours towards this project, raised enough money to build a school, supply the school with resources and build a fresh water well in the same village! June 2008: BrandAlliance™ Edmonton donated 500 teddy bears and built a web store for “Little Warriors,” a national charitable organization, based in Canada, focusing on the education and prevention of child sexual abuse.
         
 
The Good Samaritan Society has 60 years of experience in providing complex/continuing care, assisted living and other specialized health and community care services in innovative and caring environments. They are one of the largest not-for-profit, voluntary care providers in Alberta and British Columbia. BrandAlliance™ Edmonton has donated or supported many of their fundraising events over the past few years.

    

BrandAlliance™ Calgary charts employee's volunteer hours and posts them in the lunchroom for all to see and appreciate. It started as a way to let other employees know the opportunities available to them. Each year, we volunteer as a group at the Calgary Interfaith Foodbank. Some of the posts on our chart include:
Cochrane Humane Society, Mustard Seed, Free the Children, Charity Mentorship Program, Shoe Boxes, Heaven Can Wait, Mountain View Academy, Outreach Christmas Luncheon, Rocky Mountain Dive Club, Kiwanis Music Festival, Calgary Stampede Corporate Relations Committee.
